What are some of your favorite colors? Do you want something neutral or would you prefer a pop of color?

If the floor tile is staying, you should go with warmer tones. Sage green, taupe, or rusty reds might be nice.

If you do a two-toned scheme, make sure the white isn't too cool. Use an off-white so it doesn't conflict with your floor.

I would try painting the walls first and adding some hardware to the cabinets. Painting cabinets is not easy, expensive, and does not always turn out very good. But I do like that sage color mentioned above if you do paint the cabinets.

My vote goes to green.

might be more valuable to have someone remove the pony wall and see about extending and making the corner there for a few more cabs. Drawers. With change of blind color[not white] adding hardware, a couple open shelves where clock is [or reduced depth wall cab], a bifold door added to shield laundry, you can easily help the space for your better usability and looks. the color of things wouldn't be my priority. Plan for a greater project, see what it costs....doesn't have to break the bank. it's a space w a lot of action it appears...make it better.

I agree first address the storage issue then decide color for the cabinets since the new ones will need to match as close as possible the old ones. I do agree I have seen very few DIY painted cabinets that look good so unless you have lots of experience painting cabinetry get them done by a pro in a spray shop . I actully don’t have an issue with laundry in the kitchen I guess I got used to it in Europe but storage should be your first priority and you have DW use it instead if taking up valuable counter space with dish racks.

Not everything can go in the DW. I have a dish rack as well. Plastic containers and pots and pans get hand washed.
