Isn't it wonderful to have blooms looking so good at the end of the day? In the South, we rarely get this pleasure. My favorites are Sun Panda, Winter Romance, and Julie Newmar. This is the second time I've noticed Winter Romance. I wonder how hardy it would be here. Many of the Frank Smith daylilies don't survive when we have bad winters.

Debra, this my second year of Winter Romance. It is really shining this year. I did not think a daylily could have a more perfect form than Voila Francois but this one is way up there. I am 4 hours south of you so I don’t know about the hardiness for you.

Beautiful, Kate. Not enough cooler here yet to make that kind of difference, but plenty cool enough early to slow opening til the sun ruins color. Sun Panda seemed unaffected. Julie Newmar is a beauty. I like the lovely NOID. Mountain Orchid is lovely. the color reminds me of Forsyth's Garrett Mason

Beautiful blooms! That is great that you're getting cooler weather and are able to appreciate the daylilies more or differently. Hope you can enjoy the unseasonable weather while it lasts! :) I got Voila Francois a couple of years ago, it is not happy here... your looks lovely, as does Winter Romance.

Sun Panda does very well up here in the north, also. Just a great plant overall. Once again I am admiring Mountain Orchid. The coloring is so delicate, so lovely. Carnival in Mexico really pops. And what is it with you and noids? You're always showing ones that are really lovely and we are all dying to know it's name...lol. That ruffly one looks dynamite.

Really beautiful! I agree the colors really look good. Some of mine just take half the day to open though. Seems funny to me, Light of the World has not been able to open more that halfway the last couple of days. Everything else has opened up by late morning except that one. Wonder of it all has been having more trouble than usual, but did better that Light of the World. Supposed to get down into the 40s tonight, I may just sleep in tomorrow. Larry's Obsession is really pretty. I am obsessed by dark flowers with white ruffles. I actually had LO once, but it did not like it here. I have been wanting Voila Francois, yours is so perfect.

Kay, Mountain Orchid is smaller than FGM and the edge is actually a more violet color but edge no eye it is! It blooms in groups and is so pretty!

Nancy, Larry’s Obsession has just sat on a few fans and I have had it for several years. It does have the occasional pretty blooms but it is not one I would miss if it did not make it. And I would think twice about Voila Francois as well. It is not a prolific bloomer and blooms are usually in the foliage. The bloom is gorgeous and always perfect but plant habit is poor.

Julia and Celeste, I like that noid too-especially in clump form! I wish I could say it was from one of my legacy garden bequeaths but I confess I probably lost that tag when rearranging my garden. Every year I think the name is floating around the edges of my memory but float it does-in the other direction!

And Laura, I am indeed enjoying seeing daylilies at the end of the day. It is nice to have more time to look at them. Yours have done wonderful here. Most of the new ones have buds!

Same experience with Voila. I was just ready to say that yours was one of the best pictures of Larry's Obsession I've seen, but I see caveats. (Never considered it here, as Debra had problems with it, as I recall.)

The colors are good! It's been way cooler here too, but I haven't been out after my crazy wheel chair adventure..

My favorites of these are Bold Symphony and Fear Not. Heartbeat and the noid are great too.

I had to look through again, this time your noid really grabbed my eye, makes a beautiful clump.

Lilykate ......Mountain Orchid .....oh my! How tall is it ? Love the soft soft look of it . Winter Romance is also so very soft looking ! I also like the look of Isle of Patmos even though it is not front and center in the image. I think I like watermarks and selfs better than eyed daylilies but of course once I say that someone shows and eyed daylily that is to die for .

Best picture I've seen of Larry's Obsession. I've also heard it's not a great performer......Winter Romance and Voila Francois both have marvelous form. Is it just my monitor or does Winter Romance have a pale pink cast to it?........I like your noid. Another one with great pie crust edging..........Maryl

Maryl, it is probably the best picture I have ever taken of Larry’s Obsession and even saying that, as Mantis said, there are caveats!! It is not a great performer-not even a good performer. And yes, Winter Romance does have just a tint of pink. I really like the perfection of blooms I have seen.

Heather, Mountain Orchid meets registration stats in both height and bloom size. The hybridizer’s picture shows a dark pink wider edge but mine (which I bought from the hybridizer) does indeed show a more Orchid color. Isle of Patmos is really pretty but I have not gotten a good photo of it due to the cooler mornings.

Nancy, I looked again today for a tag on that noid but no luck. It has really been pretty.

Speaking of Mantis , where is he ? And Samhain and Pernen.all? Missing a lot of the names I am used to seeing !

Just looked up info on Mountain Orchid and saw it was hybridized by someone named Keast. Have not heard that name before . Anyone know where Keast is located ? In what zone Mountain Orchid was hybridized ?

Heather, That is Tom Keast of Keast Daylily Gardens in Southwest Iowa. Not sure of the zone but certainly well north of me!

Signet, I just returned from a trip to Washington and Oregon--not really daylily country, but saw some grand gardens. My daylilies are just starting to bloom.
