Friday's few flowers

It was so cold last night, most daylilies here did not open well. Here are the few that made it.

Mema's Simone is a small flowered daylily.

Hold the Matches looked a little rosy today. It is usually scarlet.

Wickedly Wild and Wonderful, a southern bred one that doesn't really like our climate, did very well last winter. The scapes are taller than I've ever seen them.

This is the nicest Spacecoast Modern Symmetry I have ever seen and it's been in the garden for several years. The sepals are sort of nasty, though.

No seedling queen today. Most of them did not open well.

Maryl, something is not right with the database. I tried looking it up on my phone and couldn't find it, but I can on the computer. It's actually registered at 4.5 inches (which is never that big for us) which I believe makes it a large flower technically. It was hybridized by someone named Wolfe.

Here was the most exciting seedling today. We love the color, but the plant is not very big and we doubt the parentage on the tag. It is supposed to be Triple Cherries X (Back Draft X Tet. Rose F. Kennedy or Heman). It looks like Triples Cherries (although it is brighter in color) and nothing at all like the supposed pollen parent.

I hope the seedlings are better tomorrow.

Same happened here too, and oddly I am seeing canoeing going on with plants that do not normally do that. I though that was from heat. I like the color of Memas Simone, I would probably prefer the rosy color on Hold the Matches, just because I have so many red or orange spiders. I love the Spacecoast today.

Nancy6b - There was a lot of canoing here today. It happens when there is a big discrepancy between night temps and day temps.

Nice group! Some of my daylilies never opened today. And some of the EMO's were open flat despite the low of 51 - Buddy's Red Head comes to mind.

Pretty blooms. Very odd weather patterns this year but I guess we can be thankful it isn't 90's, muggy and no rain.

Nancy: Lovely seedling.......I see that Mema's Simone is registered with the AHS. Since you have a picture of it you might think about adding it to the NGA database............. I don't know how accurate your picture is on my monitor, but I love that warm more toned down shade of medium yellow. Can I ask where you got yours?................Maryl

Maryl, I got Mema's Simone at a our local club's auction several years ago. I don't know anything about the hybridizer.
