How to revive a damaged plant?

Hi everyone,

I need help reviving a damaged plant. About an hour ago, my chickens tore out a plant by the roots and seemingly ate all its leaves and some stem parts, as I wasn't in the room when they did so and couldn't find them anywhere when I came back. The stems all have open wounds since they bit the leaves off and I'm not sure how much of the roots still remain in the soil after the plant was ripped out. I'm pretty new to gardening so I'm not sure what to do next (and there wasn't that much information on the internet/youtube) but I did find one website that says to soak the roots and to keep them moist to increase chances of survival. I would appreciate any help/advice on how to revive the plant or at least maximize its chances of survival/reduce the plant's trauma/distress. I'm hoping that since I was able to soak the roots immediately, the plant will survive. I've also attached a before and after photo for reference.
