Sunday's Battered Blooms

After Saturday's torrential rainfall (and all night too), there were few flowers worthy to be photographed. Bloom production is picking up though. Hopefully there will be some dry periods coming up to take more photos. They are predicting rain for the next 10 days.

Tremor actually bloomed on Friday, but I took this picture after I posted my photos. This is the nicest pattern we have ever seen on this one.

Snidely Whiplash is a large flower today.

Little Summer Star was unhurt by the rain.

Merely Mystical is showing some extra petal material in one flower.

Betty Ford has not done that well for us, but she looked pretty good today.

Bite Me had its first flower open of the season.

There was no seedling queen today, but this seedling looks like it has promise. This is Catching Fire X (Empire of Dawn and Dusk X Ruby Lipstick). The eye is more red, less magenta, but the base color is not as white as I want and there's no red edge.

We did have a few small limbs blown down from the storm last night, but most of it was just heavy downpour. There didn't seem to be much wind with the storms that went through our area, but there were some tornadoes in other areas of Indiana. Nothing was close to us though.

pretty blooms despite the battering, Nancy...Betty ford looks good...she is a really good one here. I love your seedling, and Little Summer Star is a pretty one.

The pattern on Tremor is terrific! I always like Snidely Whiplash. Any seedling with a red eye is one I like, with or without and edge.

I noticed too that Betty Ford is looking better here. Things are quite waterlogged here.

Tremor went above and beyond today, a unique pattern, hope you have more blooms like this. It’s nice to see a daylily hold up well in the rain, looks like Little Summer is a Star! I was thinking about you and Bob when I saw the weather radar last night, glad all is well for you.

I like your Tremor, and great color on Snidely. I woke up to heavy rain this morning, it did not last too long and only 1 or 2 daylilies were damaged by it fortunately.

We had the proverbial cow and rock downpour Sunday afternoon. I couldn't even see across the street. Am starting to loose a few plants from all the rain (with more rain to come)........My favorites of this batch are Tremor with the delicate pink base and nice patterning and Little Summer Star (impressive considering all the rain)................Maryl
