Since there are 100s of lycoris species and hybrids, I don't know either, because you didn't say :) I grow/have grown at least six or seven species and several hybrids.

I believe (but did not research) that they will require cool period dormancy for proper growth, so it must be left in at least a cool environment for winter (like a covered but unheated porch) or maybe a basement.

Edit: must have been too early in the morning, you said radiata, which I missed in title. It should be hardy with protection from wind if planted on the south side of your house. It proved so for me in 6b-7a.

they are hardy outdoors in north alabama (a zone 7 climate) in the ground. i have not grown them in containers but one thing i read was that the bulb neck must be above soil level to encourage flowering so don't bury them too deeply. a large pot is also recommended to allow the extensive root system to develop, likely producing offsets of other bulbs.

I am not sure of the hardiness as I am completely on the other side of the state. That said, I've grown them successfully in Texas and in south alabama and in pots/ground. I think the pots are a lot trickier. I had better success in a couple of clay pots than in plastic so I assume they prefer their feet to remain dry up until August. I am also speculating that they are the traditional red lycoris radiata or hurricane lillies. This last year moles or something got into mine as it was the first year I only had a couple of blooms so I don't like it. They look stunning when placed just behind the edging of a border with liriopie and it makes not running over them, wedding, hoeing, etc that much easier.
