Personally I would remove a leaf and plant it as a backup to make babies - then just put it outside. It'll probably be fine if you have it elevated well off of the ground and slip potted into a heavier pot that won't easily get knocked over by the wind.

I have all of my larger gesneriads outside that are too large for the shelf. In hanging baskets or pots. My Sinningia 'Gabriel's Horn', my sinningia speciosa 'Kaiser Frederick', my Kohleria 'Elvira', my Sinningia 'Peridot's Sand Pebbles', my columnea 'Early Bird', my sinningia 'Amanda's Penny', and several more. They are all doing fine and get morning sun, then shade on the front deck the rest of the day.

Put them in the hanging baskets. with the tempertures in 80s - probably the porch will work. My cat only eats Kohlerias, Smithianthas and Sinningias... leaves AVs and Prmulinas alone. I guess he prefers New World Gesneriads.

Ha, my cat seems to prefer anything with long, thin leaves. Anything grassy or remotely grass like, lemongrass, palms, he's tried to go after my worsleya a few times (for those who don't know, an endangered bulb, very expensive, mine would probably get $300 easily). The even more unfortunate part is that I have 8 cats and the other 7 seem to be learning his ways...they all have a preference. I have to keep plants behind closed doors to protect them. And yes, I grow catgrass in huge tubs for them, they eat it all and it does nothing to ease the craving for expensive amaryllids....

Wide leaf grass - like crab grass - that's my cat's weed of choice.

Primulina lineariolia is very hard to find and it roots from tip cuttings easily.. and very rarely from a leaf - Hyn can do it - I cannot. I personally would hover over it.
