Pictures from the New Jersey Rain Forest

Rain rain rain....almost every day. Been great for the plants, but not for the spirit. Some great hosta growth (lots of moving to do in the fall), but being outdoors is sorely missed!

Some updated pictures while I'm waiting on the sun.

    Jim, this is my Ivory Coast. The closest is Sagae which is said to be bigger, but this is the second year for this and not far behind my Sagae in size and really pops. I have 3 Liberty and in my opinion they rank from bottom to top Liberty, Sagae, Ivory Coast. Ivory Coast in a little more than 1/2 day sun which helps the wide margins IMHO. It's a keeper.

      Wow! They all look great and I especially love the pic of Liberty with the heucheras. So pretty together! And that Rainbow's End is huge! I just moved mine hoping it would do better. I want it to look like your's does!

      Rain does wonders. Even here where things are normally dry, we have been getting a lot of rain. My hostas (and other plants) look very lush. Of course they are dwarfs compared to yours, but still!

      Such perfect specimens as always! We just had two days of sun to remind us it does not rain every day. Rain again today and the rest of the week per normal for this year.

      davidchance.....I'm in Middlesex too....Don't really have a "collection" like some of the beautiful gardens we see posted, just a bunch of hosta in my backyard.

      You are far too modest mbug! Specimens like yours put together make for an impressive collection! Perhaps that is partly why we enjoy your posts so much. You just enjoy growing and do it to perfection and we are lucky enough to have you share with us!!!

      They look great!! We had so many terrible drought years in Central NJ in central NJ, I am liking the rain last year and this year! I did a major restoration planting in 2010 in early April and we had a hot summer with not a drop of rain (except a minor storm in early July) until sometime mid-August. It was awful! Once again I will take the too much rain over too little!

      I went to help my parents today and came home tired..I slept in the recliner for 4 hours lol..now I'm up in the night glancing at Gardenweb before I get ready for bed..I enjoyed your post..if I took pics I think my hostas would look limp and soggy..it's raining here right this minute! sigh..I'm ready for some sun too..my garden needs to dry out a bit..

      and MORE rain again today!! The Hostas do love it. I will post some photos soon. I am in Somerset County near Middlesex. In addition to Hostas in the ground, I have an area of "pet" Hostas in pots (streakers that need frequent maintaining and some young/tiny plants that need "babying" for a year or two). It is great not to have to water these pots (nor pots of annuals and a few other potted things) but I have to admit I am ready for a break of some sun and dryer air. Everything is green and mossy!

      My Ivory Coast is newer so still smaller than Liberty, but I can't see a difference.
