mbug_gw, the HOA forces the smaller rock "mulch" upon me. I try to add interest by placing larger flat river stones collected from the mountains. Some are buried most of the way so I can use them as stepping stones as well.

lindalana: In that container is a mona lavender in the back, dichondra silver falls, some sort of purple fuzzy coleus, euphorbia diamond frost, and a little bi-colored oxalis. I saw the oxalis at the garden center and just thought it was so cute. It's so dainty that I thought it would really get lost in a container but I still like it. It requires someone to really look closely but if they do, everyone asks about it. And then the Manhattan seedling.

I love the color of fragrant blue.

Jim, I'll bet it took me 6 or 7 years before I finally had a whiff of the fragrance of an FB flower and it's rather different from the typical 'Fragrant Bouqet' and 'Guacamole' flowers. FB fragrance is more subtle and reminds one of Freezias.

That’s weird because I bought FB last year in flower especially because I thought the fragrance was so delightful. It reminded me of honeysuckle.

I hope my new friend will grow up to be just like all yours! If the Guacamole and Harpoon that Don gave me previously are any indicators, this one has plenty of potential to get there.

popmama. I too lost one of my Japanese maples gut still never got it yarded out and low and behold it is sending out a shoot from the bottom so for now will leave it incase of a miracle and my friend likes the shape of it lol

My mother implored me to put the JM in a pot to see if it would show signs of growth before I truly toss it. It's now in a pot in what I refer to as my "plant hospital". We shall see.

What a nice gift! It is always special when a plant is given to us.
