In the Music some 1/4 or so of the plants are throwing double scapes out of the top of the stalk, not as side shoots. I have seen this before, but generally only one or two plants maximum. There are quite a few this year. When there are two they are quite a bit smaller than the single scapes. The Music is about waist high without the scapes extending about double the size of the next largest garlic variety.

My Japanese failed this year very much like Maiskij did. A big disappointment. In the past Japanese has done real well for me. Both gave me poor stands and very weak plants.
