A pointer in the right direction, please? Just hanging out on the outside of the flowers, so probably not the pollinating kind?

I took a brief stab at this over a week ago, but there is nothing distinctive enough about this fly to get specific search terms going. All I know is its' tiny antennae put it in one of 3 major groups of diptera flies.

Thank you for looking into this. I am just very curious, because it’s the first time in 25 years here that I have seen them. There are about a dozen of them in a relatively small area as soon as it gets dark. Even if I don’t have the porch light on. I am not seeing them having any kind of purpose to go after anything. May it be nectar, toad poop or whatever.
