IMHO, you have to decide how you will use the sink. Many on here will advise you to get the biggest single bowl you can fit. I've had both a large single sink and double bowl and I prefer a double bowl. We have a 60/40right now and I like that, but I think my ideal would be two bowls, but one much larger bowl, a smaller bowl and an integrated drain board (not sure what this is called or if it exists?). Again, that's what works for me, but you have to decide how you are going to use it.

you do not reference your overall plan..but adding a second small sink in a "prep" area or secondary zone, apart from the main"cleanup sink" allows that main sink to be a single bowl, deep sink . I would assume the higher end dishwasher will transform how you do things in terms of so much handwashing. they have eco or half load cycles so it can be run more frequently and they are easier to load/unload. I and others still handwash things like wood handled knives, some mixing bowls, and other things occas...but the activity is much abbreviated, the space and time is reduced. It is hard to understand some of this but practices do get altered with new kitchens. I would initially figure out what size sink base cabinet works best with your plan and a general sink size …...and whether a second sink fits for you. The actual sink can be chosen after some thought and looking over products.

I just finished a remodel and opted for a large single bowl "ledge" style sink and I love it.

I got the accessories - e.g. the grid which doubles as a drying rack; the cutting board and the cutting board with the hole which holds a large stainless bowl.

The grid can go on the bottom if necessary but I generally keep it on top and use it for drying hand washed items - veggies or just additional counter area. My sink is 36" and the grid is about 18". I have a small galley kitchen and there is no way I could have had a large sink unless it was a ledge type style.

I think the flexibility of a large single bowl with ledge is fabulous and I can't think of any reason to have two bowls. I had the standard two bowl configuration prior to my remodel and was so glad to get rid of it.

Nearly no one buys double bowl sinks in the sink replacement business.

A lot of our clients have loved the Kohler 45" Stages and all the bells and whistles it comes with. A very generous sink and everyone has appreciated the cutting board feature (or you could use the raised sink area under the cutting board as a drain board for hand washed dishes).

Have you looked at the "smart divide" sinks? They're two bowls, but the divider is not the full height of the sink so it can function as both a single- and double-bowl sink.
