Another wet day in Indiana

Between rains, I was able to get some hybridizing done and some pictures taken. The rain and cooler temperatures are making the colors of the flowers very saturated. That may change when the heat comes this week.

A Man Called Trout was new last season and it's really showing off this year. The flowers are quite large.

Electric Lipstick is a southern that struggles here.

Gary Lynn's Autumn Gold has very saturated color today.

John Bassilli is a striking flower. It's a southern and has done ok--just no increase.

Kiss of Paradise has done well too but no increase.

Love All Serve All is one of my favorites. It's a very good seed setter.

Off to See the Wizard was very dark this morning.

Red Eye Express was new last year and bloomed with faded color. Today it was wonderful and large too.

I decided to get a clump shot of Small World Fire in the Hole. I even picked off the dead flowers. Well, most of them.

Strawberry Fields Forever has such pretty color I can't bear to part with it even though it doesn't have many buds in our garden.

The jury's still out whether Rosa Regale is going to like our climate.

Serenade of Springtime of one of my favorite small-flowered ones.

The Colorado Kid was showing off in the cool temps and the rain.

The Tribble with Blue has a short scape, but pretty flowers.

Wishful Dreaming has taken it's time getting established. It is still only one fan.

I picked three seedlings to show today so I guess I am going to have to call them the royal court. This one is a three year old seedling. It is Wolverine X On Your Knees You Will Find Him. The color is so much better than it was last year.

This is a sib to the one above. It's pretty but doesn't have as nice an edge.

This is the maiden bloom on Stellar Stitchery X (Empire of Dawn and Dusk X Ruby Lipstick). I like the intensity of the eye on this one.

Here is a row of siblings of the one above. These are all two years old and are showing some decent branching and bud count.

It may be rainy, but you have a lot great bloom shots today. John Bassilli, Serendade of Springtime and The Colorado Kid all caught my eye. I have Kiss of Paradise and Tribble With Blue and love those. KOP multiplies well here, but is never the registered height. Have you ever been able to set a pod on it? I haven't, although the pollen is good. I like all three of the seedlings, and it's impossible to pick a favorite among them.

Colorado Kid really pops. Kiss of Paradise and John Bassilli both have a nice blend of color.

I am beginning to think it is raining everywhere! It has been great for growth but difficult to get garden work done. I like the colors on Electric Lipstick and John Bassilli and your seedlings still look good! I like that row of siblings! The Colorado Kid was indeed showing those colors!

You have a lot of lovely blooms, Nancy. Rosy Regale is a really pretty one and so is Colorado Kid. Red Eye Express is a stunner. John Bassillie and Kiss of Paradise are too. Wolverine X On your Knees you will Find His is a really pretty one. Nice post no matter the rain.

I am drawn to the Mike Holmes cultivars and to A Man Called Trout. Colors in general here are more saturated. Looks like a nice edge on Love All.

I like many of these, including your last seedlings. The edge in particular is so lovely. If I had to pick one I don't think I could. Red Eye Express, John Basilli, and Kiss of Paradise all get my attention..........Maryl

Red Eye Express is definitely eye catching. I also love Serenade of Springtime and the purple of The Colorado Kid! Your seedlings look great! It's nice to see so many blooms while I wait for my scapes to arrive.
