Hydrangeas and Buddleia

You are in KC. It is June. Did your buddleia spend the winter in your garden, or in a nursery?

I'm in 6b and your blooms are ahead of ours here. I can't believe you have blooming sunflowers already. Are you sure you are zone 6a?

Prairie moon, yup! My city has lots of sunflowers blooming but about an hour north none. It seems like everything here is blooming a lot earlier. I even have tons of echinacea in bloom! I wonder why. It’s baffling because we have had SO much rain and hardly any sunshine. Maybe the plants went into supergrowth mode to make up for the lack of consistent sun.

That is baffling alright. Crazy climate change. We used to think we were just going to get colder or hotter, but it seems we're moving toward more unpredictability and unseasonable weather. Well - at least you seem to be enjoying some benefit from it at the moment...Enjoy!

I'm in zone 7 and we don't have sunflowers yet either...the climate is definitely weird.

Beautiful mrs gartin !! I love them all. I’m on the hunt for my favorite butterfly bush here in my new home . Miss molly .. is that what yours is ? I found it had the most pleasing shape and blooms .

I'm in zone 11 and there's not the slightest indication of blooms on my crape myrtles. The two largest ones have leaves only on the ends of the branches, and I have a feeling that the roof rats have eaten all the leaves on branches that are sturdy enough to hold them, and only the more flexible ends that they can't balance on have leaves. I'm not sure whether I'll have blooms at all on these, and whether the trees will survive in the long run with so few leaves. Everything has changed in the garden since the summer of 2018, and I have the feeling it will only get worse. It seems everyone is having challenges related to climate change, and all we can do is cope as best we can, and try to find ways for our gardens to adapt.
