Sharon, I am sorry I am not of any help. My garden is probably the biggest hoge podge. Or a big colorful mess as I call it. Not all my fault, I think. The sizes of plants they give on the labels might work for the first 2 years if you start with a 4 inch pot. Plus volunteers just show up wherever. Here are few few pictures. Not exactly as inspiration for pretty. But it works for the pollinators.

Hi Sharon. My yard is small and my main goal is providing host and nectar plants to butterflies since their numbers have dropped 60 % here in FL over the last 20 years (based on annual counts conducted in FL state parks). So function is my garden's top priority. That's not to say I don't pay attention to aesthetics. Since the yard is small and the house has screened porches on the front and back, I decided to continue the color scheme from the porch (front and back the same) out into the garden. I have bronzey colored tile on the porch floor and red cushions on porch seating. I continued those colors into the yard in the pots and trellises I use. (The red trellis, growing a passion vine, is actually a tomato cage from Lowe's. I just train the vine to grow round and round. :) )

I also decided to plant 4 Jatropha (Zebra Longwings love this nectar plant) in a standard form to have a repeating form and color in the garden (red again), and move the color into that mid-height range. They are in between tree height and perennial flower height.

So I can plant under them or put a pots around them.
