Not fair to have to endure such cold winters and then hot summers. Surprised that you have a moisture deficit. I suppose those hot days do dry up things fast. I know too that your lilies get extremely well watered because of the sprinkler system and your husband's watering of the lawn. Water costs here are high, so I water only when there is a lot of dryness. But it seems the lilies can't get enough water. Certainly, they should have at least an inch a week,

Fern Stone is a very nice red. Glad things are beginning to get going for you. Many parts of the country would love to send you their rain!

Beautiful pics Laura. Fernstone has a really good deep red color. We have been in the mid to upper 80's here with overnight temps staying in at or in low 70's. We definitely could use a good soaking rain as weeding is getting difficult. I'm just so tired of checking the daylilies for snails. Seems like we have an over abundance of them this year.

A nice beginning, Laura! You and I are having the same hot weather. Not much rain here the past two weeks, had to do some watering today. I have scapes popping up all over the gardens, should have a decent amount of blooms in two weeks or so, waaaay behind this year.

Both of those are pretty. Nice early morning saturated color on Fernstone in particular.......After the blessing of cooler temperatures in late spring, we've gone back to our usual hot and humid. Yesterday the temperature was 98 and heat index well over 105 when I stopped listening. I do like to have my misery acknowledged by the facts. I still can't plant my mail order plants in the ground because of all the rain we had. The mosquitoes have formed their own air force to drive me out of the garden late at night. In other words, typical Oklahoma weather.......Maryl

I love both of those. they are two of my earlies, and the color on your Fernstone is very intense and nice. That is alovely bloom on Patricia Snider Memorial.

Thanks everyone! Usually the first blooms on FS don't open right since it's usually cooler, and I don't think the color is normally that saturated. Sherry, it definitely sounds like you and I are in the same boat. We did have a lot of rain in the spring, and the lake levels around here are very high, but we have not had much if any rain over the past two weeks. Yes, Mantis - the super hot days have definitely dried things up big time. Water is expensive here in SE Michigan too, but we are on a well so don't have to pay for city water... just have to pay for the electricity (and we had to spend a few thousand dollars to replace the well pump and some related things three or four years ago - hope we don't have to do that again!) Unfortunately the sprinklers don't hit all my daylilies, but they do hit the majority. Some of the daylilies don' get hit just because the clumps are so big that they block the sprinklers. I have been hand watering most of the new ones I planted, since many of those are in pots for now until I make room in the ground.

I LOVE Patricia Snyder!!! And how can you be having dry weather now when we are still getting rain off and on - don't think it's really dried out for months. I feel like I'm growing mold and sprouting gills - lol.

Will be interesting to see how long it will be till my Patricia Snider Memorial blooms . You are SE Michigan and I am South West Ontario . You are zone 5 b and I am supposed to be zone 6b now . Yet mine is not blooming ........go figure !

Alex, I had my husband check - the last time we had decent rain here was on June 20th (so less than two weeks), we got 1/3 of an inch then. I wish we were still getting rain on and off! Was a little cooler today, 83, but will be back in the high 80s for several days. Signet, is PSM new for you? I just checked my records - I've had it since Sept 2015, and it's had it's FFO here between June 22-26 the four years it's bloomed... it's been one of the first several to bloom every year.

Hi Laura , I added PSM in 2017 . Didn't bloom the first year . Bloomed last year but I didn't record when unfortunately

Fern Stone is beautiful, with a more saturated color and a more ruffly edge than I usually see. PSM looks lovely. I hopt you get some rain.

I'm excited to see you start posting all your lovely daylilies.....I always look forward to your posts. Patricia Snider is looking beautiful. I've heard mixed reviews on it but it sure is a beauty. BTW, Mr. Skeffington has scapes! I am looking forward to seeing it and the others from you. The ones from the fall of 2017 are amazing clumps now. Your daylilies sure do love it here!
