Are you able to match the brick if you close off the doorway? Or is there a skilled brick stainer available that can stain them to match?

If your question is whether the post can be removed, that depends on whether it’s load-bearing or not. It looks pretty puny and doesn’t seem responsible for any porch roof support but I’m not an expert and you need to get a professional to look at it for you.

If it can be removed, it might look strange without a column there. One thing you can do is shift that post to the left, and enlarge it, and add another to the right to have flanking posts or columns. For that to work, the concrete pad would need to be enlarged or something changed in that walkway.

You said exactly what I was thinking! Here’s a pic of what I see in my head. And about the brick, we’re getting it painted anyways since we’re adding on to the house with vinyl.
