need entry seating/shoe storage

So this house is super modern. Everything is white except the doors which are a teak color. I want to keep it as airy as possible in the entry but there’s two kids and lots of rain, and this gorgeous white glossy tile...so I’m thinking a runner, as the immediate entry is a little snug. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Because of the length of the hallway and the symmetrical placement of the windows, I'd think about having a narrow bench built the full length of the hallway with nothing between the windows (except maybe art). Something modern (without the upper storage shown here and not as deep). You could have the shoes covered or not:
