You're in S FL, right? FWIW, David the Good planted goumi berries way upstate from you and they didn't fruit. He thought it was because he was too far south. I've never heard of anyone having success with goumi in S FL, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has. Somehow I think places like Excalibur would carry them if they worked down here.

ETA I see DtG does recommend them for mid-state and higher in a later post. Maybe they just took several years to fruit.

It does state 3 years typical to first fruit. I checked to see if there were any updates from his side before putting on my list of needed plants. LOL....They sell them in Delray, but are out of stock until next year. That's an hour and a half - 2 hour drive for me, but I really want to put seedlings in the ground sooner. I am an impatient gardener. Once I decide on something I tend to act quickly. :-D

Have you checked with Pine Island? They don't list them on their site but they sell a lot of things that never make it to their online catalog.

I have what I believe to be a more tropical species of goumi berry. I bought it from local Thai vendors at the wagon wheel market. The fruit seems to be very popular with them. They sell the locally grown berries from their own plants as well when in season. The fruit is larger than the more common goumi berry found up north but it looks very much the same. Here's a picture of the leaves on mine. They're silvery , larger, more attractive. I've had it for two years in the ground. No fruit just yet. Ignore the plumeria leaves at the bottom of the pic, and the sky vine leaves behind it, and all the other leaves. I've got a jungle here lol
