I had an Avocado in that spot, right next to the Cathedral Windows. I planted them together in 2012 to do a comparison of the two. Avocado just didn't measure up to CW, in my opinion. So, Cathedral Windows stayed in the bed, and I relocated Avocado elsewhere. Wanted to replace Avocado with a fragrant, and saw a So Sweet locally the other day. Voila!

This is what I mean...Avocado on left, with CW, in identical light conditions. The center variegation between the two is no contest. Avocado is in the back of one of my larger beds. I do like it; very tall and vaselike, beautiful shiny green leaves. It was suffering by comparison next to CW.

I had forgot or maybe I never knew that So Sweet was a fragrant hosta, I had to look up to see where I had mine and take a picture . It is really a pretty one. Thanks for posting a reminder Don

Interesting, I planted Cathedral Windows on the sunny end of a bed and Avocado on the opposite shady side thinking they might balance each other. My Avocado looks much like yours, so perhaps I should switch them to get the best of both.

The bed looks great! I wish my CW would wake up, it’s been very wimpy. Avocado on the other hand looks pretty good

All the pictures here are really beautiful. I always wanted a CW, but after reading all these posts I am maybe a bit sorry I passed on an avocado. I thought it looked too much like guacamole, hmmmm, seems they must be related....... :-)

You will not believe this, but I went to a big box store today to purchase a Frances Williams for $7 that I passed on yesterday. When I was pulling out plants to compare, I went to move one out of the way, and it was the very last “So Sweet” in the store! Because of this discussion that I read this morning I decided I must buy it. I am wondering about the light requirement.....can it take any sun?

I planted mine in quite a sunny, warm spot... just not as relentlessly sunny as where CW is. Strong morning sun until after lunchtime. So far, so good. I think all the fragrants can handle some sun.

Finally got around to taking some photos. This is So Sweet #2 (#1 is just now putting up scapes). The fact that they survived the great root rot is amazing. It's still my favorite hosta.

So here's a picture of Cathedral Windows that I took last Monday... you can see it's starting to get sunburned and we're having some very hot, dry weather right now so it'll get worse in August (although I water a lot) . I had jotted down an "expected" width of 34"... this one is 52"! I bought it in 2015, moved it to this location in 2016.

That's just my point about sunshine, plenty of water, and "expected" sizes.
