Friday's Garden Stars

Here is what was blooming on Friday: (exposure issues have been fixed)

NEON RAINBOW: This one is in a pot this year, as I had to rescue it from my dog. This was planted where my dog decided to make a path and was trampled by her for two years.

WRENN'S SONG: This is the first year that I have seen tendrils on some of the petals. When stamile introduced it, he said that he would see 1/2 inch tendrils on rebloom.

Dances with Giraffes: Very tall and increases quite rapidly. It has gone from two fans to 6 in a year. I love the cascading form.

LONG TALL SALLY: 13 inch bloom.

SPACECOAST STARBURST in the afternoon.

The remaining pictures were taken in the early evening (6 pm)

OUR FRIEND OLIN: This is the most ruffled diploid I own. Substance is super thick. I think I will be hybridizing with this one. I see a lot of pollen being spread to many Bennett intros. It has a wonderful scape and many buds.

SUGAR CREAM PIE: Opens well in spite of the all ruffles. Well branched and budded.

FORSYTH VIVACIOUS: Fantastic velvety red. This picture is pretty close to the color in the garden.

POLAR FIZZ: FFO and it was about 8 inches.

Seedling out of AMBER SPY GLASS - a bridge plant that I need to work with.

BLACK FALCON RITUAL: FFEO

Cherokee Heritage: The color faded as the day wore on.

That is it for Friday's blooms. Time to get out there and see what is happening today.

Nice group. How does Dances with Giraffes hold up on tall scape? Leaner?

I am really drawn to Our Friend Olin. Dances with Giraffes looks really good. I got that one this spring, it has been blooming nicely, although the scapes seem a bit weak. I think because it is new though. Forsyrh Vivacious was also new for me this spring, and i like the flower even better than I thought I would. Your photo is better at getting the look of it. Black Falcon Ritual is always a favorite, and I like your seedling.

So happy to see that camera fixed! Wren's Song has somewhat smallish blooms this year. It has grown a lot though. Don't know why some plants react so differently to the past year's weather. It definitely is not 7" here; not even 6.

Julia and Nancy,

So far it is not a leaner. I have it growing in full sun, which I think helps with the tall ones. The bloom in the picture is on a 61 inch scape. It has not had multiple blooms open on it yet this year. I will keep an eye on it and let folks know if it leans with multiple blooms.

Mantis_oh: WREN'S SONG is about 7 inches this morning. It must like its not so prime location in the garden as it always performs well in that location. I always want to move it to a better spot, but it is doing well where it is, so it will probably stay there.

So nice! I too like Spacecoast Starburst the best. I bought it about 20 years ago at a local garden center. It never did much of anything and I wasn't sure it was the right plant so out it went.
