This is one of the crape myrtle trees that line my driveway. Although they gradually shed their bark, this is what sustained winds can accomplish. My driveway is littered with this bark but most trees are like this with the bark hanging in strips.

I wondered how hard you would get hit with the hurricane rain. It looks there's going to be lots of flooding in Mississippi. Stay safe! These daylilies look great despite the battering by the rain and wind. Mountain Orchid especially impresses me. At Sunset is a pretty one!

Kate, It's always good to know which ones are tough! Some of these look like they'd be delicate, but looks are deceiving.

Thanks Debra. We are far enough away that flooding is not an issue here in my immediate area. But the rains keep coming. (Sorry, Sherry!) Winds also continue.

I was surprised at how well all these opened in spite of being pounded by rain. I only lost two scapes to the wind.

Those are really some tough daylilies. I am glad you are missing the worst of the storm.

I absolutely love Mountain Orchis and also Blue Dolphin. They all look really good, especially considereing the beating they are getting. Nice work.

I enjoy seeing blooms with rain on them. I like the soft color of Blue Dolphin. Sorry your getting so much rain.

Ah! wonderful blooms Lilykate ! Pink Jeans , Mountain Orchid, Blue Dolphin, Carnival in Mexico, and At Sunset .......all grab my attention.. This is my first time seeing Pink Jeans , Blue Dolphin, and At Sunset .....so so pretty!

I am so glad to get the good report that you are not in any danger. That is a lot of water your part of the country is getting. I feel badly for those caught up in it. Immediately my attention was captured by the gorgeous shot of Malachite Prism! I think the raindrops only emphasize that bold green eyezone. And it looks like it hasn't a care in the world, with no evidence whatsoever of bad weather. Blue Dolphin is a looker with that dreamy color and Mountain Orchid is beautiful in every photo you've ever shown.

Lovely blooms. You gotta love those that stand up to the rain. I hope the rains die down soon.

Let us know your evaluation of Blue Dolphin; as I recall, it is a new one. Didn't Bullfrog Kisses have a good year for you, or was that Kay? Lovely composition on Willie Mae Thornton (including the hand, which looks quite youthful). I am confused by your name placement at the bottom of the pic.

It's always the pits when storms hit in prime bloom season. Amazing how many of yours held up. I can't pick a favorite because they are all so pretty, but Willa Mae Thornton looks awesome next to your hand.......Boy, did it hit your Crape Myrtle. Mine is shedding more this year then some, and I think the shedded bark, with it's tube shaped curling is kind of interesting, but not like yours........I hope you get sunshine pretty soon. We got lots of clouds from it even here. No rain, just the threatening clouds.............Maryl

Thanks all for your comments and concern. There are many people who are flooded but this storm was not as devastating as it could have been for places like New Orleans. We are still dealing with rain today for the third consecutive day with it finally ending tonight. My gardens will be a bog with a big mosquito population for several days!

Mantis, Kay had the spectacular season with Bullfrog Kisses. I place mine pretty high since it bloomed a long time and this is a singular rebloom scape. I am looking forward to Blue Dolphin next year. Hopefully it will not disappoint.

I am sorry the names underneath are confusing-I will try to remember to put them first. When Houzz started messing with my posts, it sometimes would not post my picture but often if I canceled out and selected another picture it would immediately post, causing the name and commentary to be wrong for that photo. I have just gotten into the habit of being sure the picture posts first. I usually do this on my phone so choose the easiest options. Oh, and thanks for the “youthful“ hand comment!! I can assure you they are the only youthful thing on this body!!! :)

LilyKate you know that is not true .......your mind is youthful too ! Seems that part doesn;t change once we reach a certain point in our lives ......for the rest of the time we are young of mind.
