Side Jambs Help

I need to prime and paint the side jambs to the front entry door. However, I need help on what to use to make it look like one piece. My friend used Bondo on it but it flaked off. I need primer and paint recommendations as well.

Fill that gap with a polyurethane caulk. If the gap is more than 1/4" use some foam backer rod.

And this will make it look like one piece so I can sand, prime and paint it???

You will not make that look like one piece. The 2 different types of wood will move differently (and yes they will expand and contract), and whatever you put there will crack and look worse than doing nothing to hide the joint.

These are the products I plan on using for this project. Wish me luck, first time using Bondo myself. Hopefully I can make this look good.

The good advice was use exterior caulk, You ignore that advice and decide to use putty.

Your door jamb is just like literally millions of other door jambs - all done with caulk.

Why did you post here if you already knew the (wrong) answer? Most members of this forum help posters because they're genuinely thoughtful people. It's inconsiderate and unethical for you to waste their time.
