peren..well..showing again my lack of knowledge of hosta names!..I read the definition of firn line (very quickly)..refers to zone differences of ice in a glacier..now the name is more interesting to me..

My Lowes never marks down plants that low. Good timing for you to get them. Your Firn Line is bigger than the one I got through mail order. Mine reverted and even though I separated the pieces, it never looked like Firn Line again. I would love to see yours do well because it has such great potential to be a real looker.

Same with me, Jon. I'm going to go scope out the good Lowe's and maybe a couple of the others. I did get a very nice Sum and Substance on clearance there for $3 a few weeks ago and I bought a full price (was $8) GE there last week. But a $1 hosta? Come on! That's too much temptation.

sandyslopes..I was surprised to see $1 hostas in the summer!..annuals yes but a hosta?..an employee was putting the stickers on as I walked down the aisle..there was just one Autumn Frost and one Firn Line..my timing was perfect..

don..I would be happier with a burger too!..I meant to get hubby a steak sooner but I finally did it!..

popmama..these hosta today were unusually low..$3 IS more common..if I was at Lowe's 5 minutes later I bet those hosta would've been gone..

What great deals you hit on! I love Firn Line! Right now I have my maps out trying to decide what is going to be moved, given away and where to plant the 5 I have in pots. I am really trying to give it some thought instead of being so willy-nilly about it. :-)

djacob..I can't wait to see Firn Line next year..fresh and beautiful!..I do decide carefully where to plant something but most of the time I buy the plant first..THEN look for the perfect location..I agree that "some thought" is better than "willy-nilly"..

newhostalady..my plant total could be the lowest ever for a season!..I used overwintered tropicals..clearance annuals.."free if you dig" hostas..$1 and $2 hosta..will probably never top this summer's deals..
