Uncertain that the photo showing tiled walls is current condition or previous. You could continue the tile behind your vanity and then hang a mirror with some shape beyond rectangle. Is your vanity going to be built-in style like the one pictured? Another option would be to pick a vanity that is more a piece of furniture, looking free standing. You could introduce something that is less boxy like a live-edge face or cast concrete top.

Thank you, Jeffrey - the picture with tiled walls is previous. We will be using a carrara-look porcelain tile - probably large scale and super white quartize counters. Shower enclosure will be glass - not the tiled version in the picture. Vanity will be built in; there is another 60- inch vanity in another part of bathroom (it is an L-shaped room give-or take with variety of doors/other issues to work around). That vanity does not have any windows above it - so makes it a bit difficult to retain symmetry with mirrors, etc. I was wondering about the mirror shape - was thinking basically a square with the right/left edge dropping straight down from window edge, but maybe circular or other? Appreciate your thoughts!

Thank you to CDR Design - The shower was an open shower, with the half walls tiled as shown in the previous pic. We are replacing with glass enclosed shower. Very interesting idea about carrying the mirror up above the window - there is another vanity not in the picture - it does not have any windows above it, so feel like I need to keep some symmetry between the two. Definitely problematic since it seems like that mirror should go up higher! Do you think it would work to have both mirrors extend up to ceiling but one with the "window gap" and the other just mirror? (And the latter would be wider since vanity is 60 inch, not 48 inch. I figured I would just keep the ratio of mirror width to vanity the same for both.) And last - any thoughts on inset mirrors? Although I like the sleek look, seems like one loses some flexibility. Again - appreciate your help!

Curious what is on opposite wall? Is there a reason the vanity and shower are sharing the same wall?

Hi - floor plan is a bit tricky with an entrance door into bathroom, as well as entrance door to closet which is through the bathroom. Length of long L is not long enough to allow for double vanity, door, and a comfortable width of shower. So short end of L is the vanity and shower pictured; long L is the length of shower, entrance to closet, and 60 inch vanity. There is a separate nook for toilet. We were able to move the plumbing for shower head to wall perpendicular to window - previous owner had the shower head extending up over the window in the shower. In a perfect world the whole bathroom would be a few feet wider and longer...

Re: CDR Design question - sorry I don't have a pic of 60-inch vanity location, but on one end (R) there is a wall and on other end (L) there is door to closet, which is accessed through the bathroom. (Not our choice, but no way to get around.) The shower enclosure is to the left of door to closet. Thanks!

If you're remodeling, this is your chance to consider changing an odd layout (including windows).

Thanks to everyone for inquiring - not considering major floor plan changes given construction of house, location support beams, location key plumbing lines - will try to de-emphasize horizontal shape of windows by keeping mirror to bounds of window - and maybe work with mirror/tile treatment above to emphasize vertical vs. horizontal.

would it be possible to create one wide window, combining the two, without creating an issue with the elevation?

I don't think its the windows that are the oddity in your space but the layout. Hence why I was asking for a floorpan. If the shower could be relocated to another spot having a long vanity under the windows would actually be nice. In fact I love bathrooms with this feature because it brings in natural light without compromising privacy.
