An outstanding bunch of daylilies. Shirley Koch, Daniel Howard Morris, Black Velvet Baby, & Becky Adams especially caught my attention for form and color.

Glad to hear you are starting to like the UF daylilies, how about working on UF’s with teeth??? Daniel Howard Norris is at the top of the list today. Ruby Lipstick looks nice today, I’m trying to remember if it likes warmer climates hmmmmm.... Was Buzz Saw in to much shade in your garden? Buzz is new here, just wondering what you are finding.

Sherry, Buzz Saw is actually performing better now it has some shade.

I am a little afraid of trying to work with uf daylilies. The long pistil sometimes makes it hard to set pods. They can dry up before the pollen reaches the ovary. Most of the ones we are added are diploid ufs so teeth might be a problem there. I know some are trying to get teeth on diploids, but I don't know how successful they have been.

What a nice variety in today's photos! That is an excellent photo of Ruby Lipstick. I think my favorite of the bunch is Black Velvet Baby. It does look very velvety!

An enjoyable group. Becky Adams was stingy this year in blooms. Hard to understand how Daniel Howard Norris is just starting for you. Has been blooming here for a few weeks, and it is listed as midseason. Our time sequence is usually similar.

Hoosier Nancy and Mantis - How does Daniel Howard Norris perform for you. Kentucky Nancy and I loved it when we saw it blooming in one of the Kingsport, TN gardens. But it was much darker blood red there - and rounder than the photo above. It's one of the few daylilies on my wishlist, but I hesitate to buy it since it's a dip, and I only hybridize with dip UFs. I wish someone would convert it to a tet. But I think how pretty it would look in my red bed, so I may add it this fall.

You will love Trance in the late season, It's a stellar performer.

Many lovely blooms, Nancy. Daniel Howard Norris really catches the eye. That is Space Coast Black Velvet Baby, isn't it? I grow it too and it is a wonderful bloomer and reblooms here. Becky Adams is a pretty thing too. Unusual formed daylilies began appealing to me and it just snowballed until they are the ones that catch my eye first now. You have a lot of beauties in this post.

Kay, Black Velvet Baby is a Kinnebrew but it doesn't have the Spacecoast name in front of it.

Debra, Daniel Howard Norris is usually a deeper red than the one pictured. It had been really hot here so maybe that's why it is lighter than usual. I was going to show you a picture of the previous year's flower, but Houzz won't cooperate. Daniel Howard Norris has done well for us. Its bud count is low this year (which has been a problem for many of our daylilies--this has been a terrible year for them), but every fan has a scape.
