What Plumeria Is It?

last modified: 7 years ago

Hello. I am new to these forums, growing plumeria in CA Bay area zone 7b for about 5-6 years. Mostly from cuttings from the usual mail order nurseries and with limited success :(

Last year, I bought this guy from HD in the area, no blooms and NO ID. Overwintered in the garage, rolling it out on sunny days to warm up. It really shot up after the one week 100 degree heat wave we had in June and it is blooming for me for the first time!

If anyone has any idea what variety it might be, any suggestions would be great. After I purchased it, I saw in a different HD in the area some plumerias that were blooming in the store, some white and pink and some that looked like Lei Rainbow to me. I wish I could find the pics or knew what nursery HD in the Bay Area buys plumerias from. The tag on the plant was not very informative.

Some info:

* Leaves are medium green, oval with a sharp, curved reddish tip, no pubescence.

* Flowers are 3"-3.5" diameter strong pink stripe on back,

* Open yellow and pink stripe front which fade somewhat and develop more orange, veined center,

* Oval tip petals, the outer edge on almost all petals is jagged and uneven, esp. the outermost petal.

I really like this plant and would love to know what it is.

Thanks!
