Bougainvillea.

Though very attractive, bougainvilleas are not for me because of the very sharp thorns and the papery effect. But, here's the plus point. Bougainvillea is medicinal! Although every plant in creation is meant as medicine either for humans or animals, never thought of bougainvillea that way. South Americans use it for many ailments including coughs and even diabetes!

The vine against the wall is bougainvillea? It doesn't look typical. Or were you referring to the pink flowers going up the steps?
