PM rarely kills a plant ... its ugly.. but usually.;.. so what ... i wouldnt worry about it all that much

where are you ... and is this wide spread in your area?? ... your county extension office would probably know.. off the cuff ... as would your nurseryman.. who sold you a diseased plant.. whats that all about ... i might have walked away ... unless its a bargain.. then see above.. so what ...

if so .. you probably arent going to beat it back ... there are chemical remedies .. of which i am not up to speed.. i am sure you can find a fungicide ...

if you happen to water in the evening.. NEVER wet the leaves ... let them go into dark dry ... and increase air movement if possible ... this stuff is endemic when it prospers at night when its hot and humid .. aka ... dank ...

i never tried milk ... as i wondered if rotting milk would be worse than the PM ... lol ... did i per chance ... or not at all ...

Sure had done the trick on those few roses of mine and wouldn't hesitate to use the milk treatment again!

With any foliage disease, I plan on removing as much of the plant as possible late in the year before winter to reduce overwintering spores. So remove dropped leaves and hard prune the clematis vines. To the best of my knowledge, powdery mildew is a set of diseases that look similar but won’t move between unrelated plants such as from honeysuckle to clematis since they aren’t related.

For future seasons, I have found that plants seem most susceptible to PM when the soil is dry but foliage moisture in high, so I water as needed but in a way that leaves the foliage dry. The kind of weather we have had for most of the last month in my area, with drought but high dew points, often leads to powdery mildew.
