in a word? yes. but without seeing the room, how it's done and decor, hard to say if it would look right.

Oh, no, no, no. There is no plausible way to run beams in there that look convincing.

And those 3 pics with the beams? Every one of them clearly fake. Stick 2 or 3 beams up willy-nilly and call it a day. Nothing in the rest of the house would indicate that it is constructed with beams like that.

In the 2nd pic, the beams end in the thinnest part of a mimsy little arch with no support underneath and they don't even continue through on the rest of the ceiling that is clearly visible above the stairs! At least have the integrity to carry them through to a solid wall to give them a little plausibility.

The 3rd one is silliest of all; if that were a beam used for support, it would need a post under it (or a humongous header), not a freaking picture window! Bwahahaha!

You want beams? Build a post-and-beam house.

Of course you can put beams in a 9' ceiling!

tatts, I posted those pics because that's prob what she's asking about doing. faux beams. the pics are there so she can get a visual of what it would look like in that room. OP gave no indication of what her design is, other than a picture of the model home.

and if you read, she obviously isn't building a post-beam home.

As I said they will always look fake this is never going to be a post and beam house we have many post and beam houses where I live and none to years to build but they definately take longer than the average.

Did you end up doing beams on a 9’ ceiling? How did they turn out? We’re wondering the same thing about our 9’ ceilings?
