My seedlings 2019 part 1

I think I am going to try to post almost all of my seedlings that bloomed or still blooming this year in a couple of (lengthy) posts, if Houzz permits of course ))

I recently discovered that there's a link in my profile where I can see my posts and it was interesting because I found my previous years sdlgs posts and I don't keep very good records so it was helpful to find out how old some of them were ))

I really appreciate any comments but of course skip if you are not interested, oh also as usual would like to know what you don't like, because most of the time I Love all my seedlings lol But seriously need to cull. I have one patch where I will be clearing some that haven't bloomed for 3 years so I can plant next year.

Anyway, in no particular order

1 - from Man of Sorrows #1, tall, large bloom, a lot of my flowers are splotchy this year, it had nice blooms too, I just like that that is bigger than MOS

2 - another Man of Sorrows kid, first time blooming, I like the large watermark

3 - Tahlequa Flame kid, tall, plain but I kinda like it especially when it recurves

4 - sibs out of Blood Sweat and Tears #1 - tall, opens well, the purpliest of all

5 - BSAT sdlg #2 - like when it recurves but this year it didn't always

6 - BSAT sdlg #3 - was new last year and very interesting form, but just like this this year, it's tall too, I will keep to see what it does next year and if curled (quilted?) sepals return

7 - Eyes On The Prize x Elegant Candy - one of my favorite, best budded, long blooming, opens well, double scapes, sets pods, just would like it to be a lighter color

8 - seedlings out of Stranger in a Strange Land (SIASL further) which itself is doing horrible this year, anyway #1 - probably going to compost, it's ok-ish, bigger bloom, double scapes on almost all scapes, but just doesn't open well

9 - SIASL sdlg #2 - very similar, double scapes too, will keep this one

10 - SIASL sdlg #3 - tall, but don't like the form, will go

11 - SIASL sdlg the best of them, double scapes as well, funny but looks really similar to one I got from a different cross; not the best pic, I need to move it

Will continue in comments

12 - Last to the buffet line x Eyes on the Prize - moved it last year and it's the first and only of my seedling that got taller and better, we like it a lot (it does look v similar to my other Eyes On the Prize sdlg)

14 - sib to the previous one and will compost, it's short and don't like the form

15 - tagged as Utopia or Oblivion kid but I have my doubts, anyway, very good scape, double scapes on all, kinda like the look but so splotchy; I would love to cross it with something but have no idea what

16 - my oldest seedlings, cross Chance Encounter x Red Friday #2; yes, I still keep, just can't decide what to do with them; this one has that stippled look

    17 - Chance Encounter x Red Friday #3 - tall

18 - Chance Encounter x Red Friday #6 - med height, thick petals, we like this one and it stays

19 - another SIASL sdlgs, I have 3 of this cross, and they are all late, I think they will stay where they are because of that, but I'll just keep two of them, they are slightly different

20 - Tower of Babel sdlg, midseason late I don't know, sometimes I like it but sometimes I think I don't need it

21 - another Tower of Babel seedling that is sadly often splotchy, I really like the color though but don't know how to try to improve it, late

    22 - Chance Encounter x Undercurrent #1 - med height, it's pink lavender, I like it

23 - Chance Encounter x Undercurrent #3 - very light, although looks yellow here, this stays

24 - Utopia or Oblivion kid, now that seems more like it, i kinda like midribs on a darker flower; it's in too much shade so it can stay there ))

25 - Filipina Bride x bee; new this year, I usually don't allow bee pods but I was getting rid of Filipina Bride and decided to keep, plus all my other seedlings from FB didn't survive; it looks like a slightly bigger version of Lullaby Baby, I will keep it another year to see if it gets any taller, too short as it is now

26 - Intelligent Design x Wild Horses; new this year, original scape was tall and just started reblooming on a shorter scape

Have one seedling yet to bloom left and it's the same cross, interesting because this one was early

27 - Lavender Heartthrob seedlings, #1, new this year, this was ffo after that they look v sim to LH

28 - Lav Heartthrob sdlg #2, also new this year, I lost a sib after transplanting but this one looks almost exactly, after this flower I broke all the remaining buds, it's med height but larger bloom

    29 - my fave from Lavender Heartthrob cross, 2nd year blooming, 25 6, 14-15b

30 - Guilded Appeal x Red Friday, not sure if I should keep

    Thanks for looking!

I am going to work on part 2

Thanks so much, Brad! You are very kind :)

I like No.4 too, thanks. And appreciate the don't likes! :D Will sure make my decision easier!

I see that the 2nd part post has disappeared. I only edited one word, bummer. Will see if I can post it again while I still have patience..

You have many beautiful babies. Great job.

Thanks for sharing your seedlings! I will tell you what I like and what I don’t care for and why. I don’t care for 3 because I don’t like the color. I don’t care for 8 because you say it doesn’t open well thats not acceptable. With so many nice ones to pick from I wouldn’t keep 14,15 or 21 you didn’t seem sure about them either. I absolutely love all of these. 1,2,4,6,22,23,24,27,28 and 29. it Was hard to pick out favorites of the ones I loved, let me try....2,4, 23 and 27. I understand why this is hard, I have one bee pollen daylily that was born and lives in the shade, it glows but the color does not photograph well, I’m keeping it just because.........

I really like 1, 2 4, 6, 17 and 29. Lovely babies and a lot of them. I know you have to be proud of them.

Lots of nice ones, but I think my very favorite is #2

    4 , 6, 10 , 21 and 29 .......lovelies!

My favorites are 4, 22 and 29. Numero Uno would be fabulous if it were not splotchy. I do find it hard to cull seedlings. So far this year, I've only eliminated three.

Well I love them all - except 16. I would not be able to cull them!

    Thanks SO much everyone!!

I gave myself a headache spending so much time on computer yesterday, but I really wanted to get that done (group all my sdlgs) just took longer than I thought what with Houzz not posting and then posting twice ugh..

Thanks, Julia! I wish I had more room for experiments.

Thanks Sherry!! DH also doesn't like oranges but there's something about that orange I like )) I agree completely, bad opening is not acceptable, do not remember prev years, just sad that some with the best plant habits have those flaws. Haha I get it about keeping the seedlings!

    Kay, thanks for the likes!!

Thanks Nancy! I hope 2nd will only improve from now on ))

Thanks Signet! I really think 29 is one of my best, thanks for liking!

Thanks Debra!! Those are among my very favorites. Oooh it's so hard to cull! Number one is my biggest flower at 6.5, lots of stuff is splotchy this year, even light ones, which is ridiculous, so hopefully next year will be a clear year ))

Thanks Jennifer! I should really make a decision re #16 lol it's hard!
