I wish my kumquat trees looked that nice.

i held off getting one for a long time since they are so common and sour small fruits but as an ornamental item indoors during winter.....

Calamondin is a great ornamental. It has green fruit, ripe fruit, and blooms for a long period here in Zone 9a but it's soooo much more than an ornamental to me. I eat them straight off the tree. The fruit get less sour the further they ripen. It will still give you a pucker but they are good. I get enough fruit to cut them in half and juice them. I just squeeze each half into a tea strainer set over a jar. It takes a lot of calamondins but the juice is a great addition to your lemonade recipe to add a little complexity and color. You can also keep the juice and the peels and pure' them. The pure' is really good in some cake recipes you can find here in the citrus forum.

I like to eat calamondins straight off of the tree as well. Such a good flavor to them if you can get past the sour (especially in the ripe orange stage). Calamondins grow beautifully in form and are very prolific in flowering and fruiting, as well as being OK with less than ideal lighting and watering conditions vs most other citrus. I love to grow them from seed to give as gifts to friends and family

EDIT: I'd be a fool to not mention they have some of the best smelling blooms (I think maybe only surpassed by my satsumas, they seem to have a bit more of a vanilla scent to them)
