Design Dilemma Before & After Kitchens

Cabinets too small?

I have two small glass front cabinets on either side of my range hood. there Is a French door to the left and a window to the right so the only size cabinets I can fit there are 12 3/4”. These are my only upper cabinets as the windows run the entire length of my kitchen perimeter. Do you think these will look funny? The range and range hood between are 36” Viking. The range hood is wrapped in white drywall to match cabinetry. Should I consider open shelving?

2 dinky wall cabinets are going to look so lost. No cabinets or tiny little shelves either one.

We need pictures and IMO glass front cabinets near a cooking surface are a bad idea as are open shelves.

Given what you’ve described, and with no photos to look at, I recommend you have nothing there due to the narrow width you mentioned.

If you had posted earlier before you wrapped the hood, I would have advised a 42” stainless steel chimney hood, no cabinetry. It would have had a more pro, less fussy look, and might fill the space better, and be easier to wipe down to boot.

BTW, what do you mean you “wrapped the hood in drywall to match the cabinetry”?
