Yes, I agree with Steve. What kind of mix are you using? Is it porous or very fine and dense?

It is pretty fast draining being similar to a 5-1-1.

Perfect, then you shouldn't have to flush the mix out if it's that porous. But defintely take the fertilizer sticks out. Sometimes I wonder why these companies make them in the first place when they cause more harm than good? Crazy

I have never used fertilizer sticks, and I will never use them now too.

Osmocote and others have replaced and improved tremendously. I use those year around

with my go to fertilizer Peter,s H/P 25- 5 - 15. Peter hp, I stop using during the winter months. Last feeding is around the end of October with Peters hp.

Soluble fertilizers get washed out easily but here is where Osmocote takes over. Constant fertilizer available to the tree.

During the heat of summer, July and August, I go easy on high nitro, stay with Osmocote plus.

Container, sorry, that thing about the fertilizer sticks was intended for another person on another post. Mix up but good job not to even use them in the first place)
