Cucumber/Cantaloupe?!?

I work at a place with a large garden. We have a volunteer that manages it. Last week she came and told me that the plants that were marked cantaloupe looked weird. They were dark green and just didn’t look like cantaloupes, and she had never seen anything like it and she’s been gardening for literally probably 40-50 years. She said it almost looked like a cross between a cucumber and cantaloupe. We don’t know for sure what the seeds were as these plants came from a friend of my boss’ that gives us plants every year. I finally got out there today to look and she was right! They look like a cross between a cantaloupe and cucumber! I brought one home and cut it and still it looks like a cross between a cantaloupe and cucumber!! It even TASTES like it too! Mostly no taste, but kind of like a cucumber with a hint of cantaloupe. I know this can’t be possible, everything I’ve ready today says it’s not, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what this thing is!! Anyone have any ideas?!?
