Earwig problem for citrus?

One of my key lime trees has started dropping many of its leaves. Nothing has changed with respect to watering practices or fertilizing. The potting mix is coarse and like that used in all my other citrus trees. All the other citrus I have are thriving.

So I decided to investigate the roots and the only thing I can tell is that there seems to be a rather big infestation of earwigs. Something I haven’t noticed with my other citrus trees. The roots themselves dont look to be rotting but there aren’t a whole lot of new roots sprouting. Is it possible that these earwigs could be damaging the roots? Anyone ever heard of them acting as a pest to citrus? The leaves dont show any bite damage. Just basically some yellowing and then falling off.
