Forum help please

Did the main screen change for everyone else too? Mine used to show topics divided by gardening and home, so easy to quickly click on what I wanted, now they're all jumbled together in an alphabetical list with a section for featured at the top. I don't like this at all. Is there a way to get the topics landing page back to how I it was arranged before (i.e. customize it) or is this a H**$z setting and can't be changed.

Is THIS what you had or have now? ...or are you talking about something else?

Tsuga -- what you linked to is what I had before; it has now changed. I think Ken may be having the same problem.

I've always just typed in the URLs. So this forum is https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/peren.

To go to the Rose Forum, I change the 'peren' to 'roses'. Most of the old GardenWeb. addresses make a lot of sense, so are easy to remember.

My old bookmarks also changed and I'm slowly correcting them. The best way to do that so you stay on the gardenweb side and not get into the Houzz side is to go to the forum and search for your post being as specific as you can. Once that old post is found, copy that URL and paste it your bookmark properties (or just make a new bookmark). The main thing is to make sure the URL is gardenweb and not Houzz and be sure if you use a bookmark (or type the URL, for that matter) that is gardenweb that it stays gardenweb at the top of your browser and doesn't change to Houzz.

My old bookmarks still are the gardenweb URLs and yet Houzz redirects them now to Houzz URLs. You can see the redirection while the page is loading. I'm the same as Ken in that m y bookmarks very recently have begun to take me to a general topic page which has very little to do with my normal post. To the left I can see links for my normal forums.

OK, two different bookmarks. The redirected ones are to the forums which happens to me in Firefox if I clear my cache but return to normal after a while. I haven't quite figured out why they change back. It may be tied to going to certain forums like Nature Forums that gets them to work. I have not gotten them to work in Explorer (they still redirect to Houzz). The changing link paths that I mentioned above had to do with older individual posts that I bookmarked that stopped working altogether.

No change for me. I never see Houzz forums other than former Garden Web ones and my Favourites are still listed down the left hand side. Name That Plant is my bookmarked forum and I open any others from there.

name that plant is the only one i cant get to ... could you link my flora???

And here is a direct link to Name that Plant on the Gardenweb side.

Ok, well, you guys fixed the problem for me -- I just typed in the URL as gardenweb then bookmarked the site, the view is back to what it was. For now anyway.

What I did when I my I link was changed to the houzz side is I went to Google and I said for example home design conversations gardenweb forums. I use voice to text. Once I got into gardenweb forums home design conversations I went to the 3 buttons on the upper right hand corner on my cell phone and chose Add to home screen. My PC links did not change.

The only problem ongoing I have since GW changed to houzz is I cannot post a new thread on only home Designs conversations forum. All of the rest of the forums seem fine so far for posting from my cell phone. There is no home design conversations forum on the Houzz list on my cell phone. However on my PC I can post a thread on GW HD conversations forum . So I seldom post a thread to HD conversations :-( I feel like a betrayer but I seldom use my PC to read anymore. It's my work computer and my movie computer while I'm working :-).

Interesting... I noticed that some of my bookmarks are now directing me to a - useless. - houzz page instead of the appropriate forum page. The Perennials and Landscape Design bookmarks still work properly. I wonder how long it will be before they get messed up too?!

I don't use any bookmarks (I don't even know how to create them :-)). I just access whatever forums I want from the listing of preferred/favorite forums I created located on the far lefthand side of of the first GW screen under the label "Your Topics" or from the listing of recent posting activity in the center of the page. It is only when I scroll back past the first page of the recent posting listings that things begin to get messed up! Then it brings in all manner of unrelated forums and under the Houzz format rather than in my normal GW format.

gg48 - the bookmarks I was referring to are on my iPad. When I click on the Perennials forum one or the Landscape Design one, the URL says gardenweb.com although the page that opens has houzz on the top left and the Your Topics list on the left side. The bookmarks that stopped working properly were to other forums. The URL line for them initially showed gardenweb.com and then switched to houzz and took me to the home page - or something like that page.... I have deleted all those bookmarks - most of them were to places that are on my Your Topics list. But I’m now expecting the Perennials and Landscape Design bookmarks will soon not work properly either!

OK.....so just the browser bookmarks, not anything specific to Houzz. I have never used them for that purpose. GW shows as a site tab on my browser window (one of numerous websites I visit almost daily) and since I never log off, it always takes me to the same 'start' screen, with my name at the top and the "what are you working on" greeting and my listing of most recent postings in my preferred forums. It is only when I try to scroll beyond this initial page that I encounter issues.

This has been frustrating me too! I have found that on the left column, if I click "All Topics", the familiar list of all the gardening forums appears, which is what's important for me.
