Two Plants Near Lake S.E. MI, z5b

I found these two plants, yesterday, growing in the marshy area near a lake. The red one looks familiar but I can't think what it is. The purplish flower is a bad picture but I was more focused on the butterfly and really didn't notice the flower until I got home. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
