Deciding between round and rectangle dining table.. What do you think?

Trying to decide between a round and rectangular dining table. What do you think?

Thinking about getting having a darker accent wall (with gold lines), so the [Silverado](https://www.cb2.com/silverado-brass-80-rectangular-dining-table/s593757) table looked great. For the round, we'll probably try to find a walnut one.

Round table: 60"

Rectangular Table 1: 72"

Rectangular Table 2: 80"

Room Size: 144" x 132" and the openings flow into living room and kitchen (no doors).

The red dot is where the ceiling pendant hangs from (roughly).

Round 60”

Rectangle 72”

Rectangle 80”

I have a rectangle table right now. I have been yearning to get a new round one. My space can’t take a 60 extending one so I’ll have to go 48 with a leaf. I love the softer and more inviting look of round. I just need to find the right one.

I prefer round, as I don't like going into table corners in the dark :( It also usually looks better. However if you have a really huge space, then of course you need rectangle. My ceiling pendent does not hang directly over my table either, and it really does not bother me...

Get chairs without arms or with low arms so they can be pushed in when not in use.

yeah.. it's definitely tricky. the nice round tables are on the highend.. restoration hardware etc. the only nice one i've found is the Axel from C&B but it's a little higher than I'd like to be. https://www.crateandbarrel.com/apex-64-round-dining-table/s583007

It's recommended to have a minimum of 36" from table edge to wall to allow people to shimmy behind a seated guest. Since you have openings on either end, you could probably "steal" a few inches but make sure you have enough space between the corners (if you go with rectangle table) and wall for someone to comfortably pass through.

Technically in a 12x11 room would have a recommended max table dimensions of 6' long and 5' wide.
