The different fences are a problem. Is it possible to stain them all the same color? Ten feet of clearance? What a bummer. I'm a big fan of ornamental grass. Fountain grass is pretty. It doesn't get too big but it would provide coverage all year. I would plant it in a semi circle from fence to fence. You could do the other corner the same way to add symmetry and to make it less obvious you are hiding something. It looks as if you could use some shade. I would add a small to medium tree then add some lower growing shrubs to hide the back wall. I'm not sure what grows well in tx.

It would be helpful to know more.......do you have any photos to share ? Can you fence in any of the sideyard next to the road to make it part of your private yard area.,,,,,,,,? This would give you lots of usable outside area for your family. Try going through the houzz.com photos and putting together an idea book of images that you like. Once you have done this you can start to piece together your own design. I highly recommend fencing in as much area as you can....Look for a fence design that is attractive and works with the style of your house. I also recommend using pavers for much of the yard area with small areas for plants.

I agree with most of the above, but consider the dog first. a. continue to block the bottom of the fence, as the dog may want to chase after the wild creatures from the ravine, or they may choose to enter your yard for a visit. b. limit your beds to where they are not now being disturbed by the dog. There will be special spots that he prefers in the sun and then in the shade. Just like your human family returning to favorite spots in the living room and den. Do not invade his haunts with new planting. c. consider fencing around the utility corner by the gate, that is the same fence as at the yard, but portable, on feet or skids rather than inground. For the meters on the wall, build a cabinet to match the siding, with doors for access. In front of the A/C unit, by the side of the terrace, plant a small flowering tree like a flowering dogwood or a star magnolia, or a shadbush, something stemmy with character. d. for your vegetables and herbs, build a raised bed or two with new soil but no bonemeal which might attract the dog. e. to separate your daily activities from your neighbor's daily activities, install the handsome fence you admired, or plant a tall screen hedge of stemmy shrubs, say 4' apart, like lilac, shadblow, crape myrtle, or whatever looks good at the garden center. Some will be fragrant, some attract butterflies and hummingbirds, some will have fruit for the birds. f. if there are shady areas that the dog is not favoring, you might plant some hostas, like are at the base of the fence you admired.
