David - I would agree with you about All Things to All Men being a hybridizing plant. I haven't had a bloom on it in two years that wasn't splotchy. So far, none of my seedlings with it as a parent have survived. I would be thrilled if I ever got a bloom that looked as good as yours. Do you have any seedlings from it?

I like the looks of Transylvania Tango, and Super Model looks like a doer in your garden.

I have had it for several years and the above pictured bloom is the last bloom of the year. It always improves by the time I am down to about 3 or 4 blooms. This has been the first year I used it. I put it on DESIRE OF NATIONS to see if I can get something that does not look like DON. The row of seedlings I currently have out of DON all look very similar to DON.

SUPERMODEL is an outstanding plant and all the blooms look the same day after day. It also increases well.

Transylvanian Tango has also been a very good plant. It is a little splotchy for about the first week it blooms, but then it gets it out of its system.

For some plants, splotchiness seems to vary from year to year. Others always seem to be plagued. Thanks for the information.

It's a shame about All Things To All Men being splotchy and finicky about blooming. I really like the color. In my experience Splotchiness usually stays with the plant year after year. I'm thinking on a susceptible daylily it's the time of year it blooms that might account for some of it.. If Thrips are the culprit, then they come out in waves at different times during the year, and if yours consistently blooms during that same time you may have a problem every year. Of course Thrips don't read the train schedule so to speak, so some years you might just get lucky.......... I was glad to see Yada Yada Yellow. I've been tempted by it because it's such a late yellow. Davisson says it's her latest in her garden. If it was the rounded form I'd probably have gotten it by now, as it is I'll keep it on my list and see what others think about it ............Maryl

Lots of nice ones today, especially the purples.. Sears Tower is usually about eye level to me [5'10"] but this year it was a little short. Still a great show!
