For me it would be a complete gut job so what is your idea of what you are planning . To remove the tub and redo the shower IMO you might as well gut the thing down to the studs and start over.

Yes, a gut job. New, more normal shower stall, freestanding tub if you want a tub, double-sink vanity, more lighting. Be sure you can reach the shower controls from outside the shower so you can adjust the water flow and temperature before stepping into the shower. The shower head should not face the shower entry. A single standard wall head plus an adjustable-height hand-held shower wand are what I have. The wand is great for rinsing out the shower as well as rinsing shampoo. When our grandchildren were young, the wand could be adjusted lower for their showers. I like glass walls on two sides in spite of the need to squeegee them after every shower.

We need a to scale floor plan shoing where the windows and door are with all the measurements shown on the drawing . Some idea of your style and an idea of your budget . Are you happy with where the basic plumbing is or is that something you want to change . The more info we get the more help you get.but at the end you will still need a designer to pull it all together.

A 50K + gut project like this needs the first step to be contacting a Kitchen and Bath Designer. There’s nothing really “wrong” with what is there that needs a gut. It would be for aesthetics only, not functional reasons.

Whatever you do don’t install pendants over the bathtub like you have now. That’s not safe.

Even if the plumbing is all in the right places, finding a professional bath designer would probably make this big job more manageable. Have you saved any photos on Houzz? That would help your Houzzer friends to guide you. I’m in a similar situation but would be terrified to redo my bathroom without professional help.
