Cleaning Tips Bathrooms

Yellowed plastic controls in whirlpool tub - advice

I have read the into on how to clean the jets after removing them, coating them with Salon Care 40 and leaving in the sun. However, I have a yellowed plastic control panel with three plastic knobs which also need cleaning and I don't think I can remove them. Is it safe to tape off the tub around this panel and use the Salon Care with a lamp on them? Will this damage my acrylic tub in any way? What kind of tape should I use?
