Hah, Michele... I figured if it was still on the porch I'd just go grab it and leave, it did have my name all over it! I was assuming the UPS guy rang the bell and didn't get an answer so they must not be home. I didn't really want to have to talk to them... it was weird enough standing on my (own former) front porch, I didn't want to get invited in or something.

The old neighbours know me anyhow, I did run into one of them and had a chat, and rang the bell of my former next door neighbour but she wasn't home.

God, I'm jealous of your garden and flowers, so beautiful!

Nighttime stupidity tries my patience. We picked up a guy last night found in Safeway passed out drunk on Listerine at 1am. Landed up in a mini wrestling match with him as when we got into the ambulance he tried to lay down on my stretcher and there was no way he needed a stretcher but wouldn't listen when I told him to sit in the chair. He missed the memo about 'my office my rules'. Then the poor 18y/o killed up on Manning... I wasn't there but one of my good friends was... Great

Jayme - that photo looks great; hubby does nice work

If we're doing interior trim work, we try to use BIN which is a white tinted shellac base primer. It works especially well at sealing knots and odors. It's a lot more money than the other products, but it is the ultimate primer, at least in my book. We also use the KILZ oil base but not the latex product. We've had problems with the latex and stuff bleeding through the primer and then through the paint.

I spent my day resurrecting the storm door at my project house. It's an old house, so the door is 83 inches. I would have replaced it is I could have found one cheap but 84 inch doors are tough to find, except at old house demolition sales and haven't seen any of those lately. I did price a replacement storm door and it was more than $300 and wasn't a particularly nice door.

The insert panel has one broken cross bar but I took it apart as much as necessary, cleaned everything and glued it all back together again. I'm not going to fix the broken molding because it is a major job to find or make that profile and it just isn't worth it. I scraped as much of the old shellac off as I could and then used denatured alcohol to remove most of the remainder. Then it got a coat of a dark stain and so far has one coat of shellac. I'll probably put a coat of poly over the shellac but shellac has such a beautiful finish and looks so authentic for an old house. I'm really surprised at how good the door looks...it isn't wonderful but it was absolutely awful when I started and now it is quite presentable...just has lots of "character" features!

Sounds great, Linda! I love to see things restored or fixed when they can be. New stuff sometimes is just lacking character. Did you take pictures?

Silly me, I didn't take any pictures of the before model. I'll have to try and remember to take some photos of the front door before I go any further on it. I'm not very good at getting pictures of the work...and the before photos of this house were on the phone which I lost....

I found out that Home Depot carries the surface mount self closing storm door hinges so I can go buy new hinges. I was thinking that I would have to put on regular hinges and leave the old hinge marks on the front of the door.

Isn't it adorable, love the way it looks against that grayish finish on chair, I might just leave them there (there's another chair on other side of table). I know it's a bit big, but I like it. The colors would go in your room Angela, but your bird pillow is so ethereal and airy, I love it!!

How exciting, furniture delivery day! I love days when I'm expecting something to arrive. Though, that won't be for a long time now, since I'm pretty much done with my house, upstairs at least. It will be a awhile before I can tackle anything downstairs, except for maybe sprucing up the guest bedroom, but that will be minor expenses only -- paint, drapery. Get some rest, Ang... busy day tomorrow.

A patients family member complained about the supposed disservice we provided despite the patient being an adult and able to consent or refuse treatment independently.

Whatever will be will be. I have other things to worry about including an impending conversation with my partner. But first... days off!!!
Oh, enjoy the days off and don't let the custards get you down (nice, clean language for everyone) people can be so stupid and interfering sometimes. I hope the weather cooperates with all your plans, it's great to have an uninterrupted stretch to get it all done. And maybe you'll find a couple of minutes to relax, stranger things have happened ;)
