A good painter can easily repair those roughed up ends. I would make the repairs and then take this opportunity to paint the walls in a solid color. The textured paint right now fights with your beautiful countertop. Solid walls and then color or pattern could be brought in with rugs, towels or shower curtain or window treatment.

Ok. Then you need to trim off the lifting portion of the surface (or hire a good painter who can repair this edge. With your granite, I would paint the walls in this vanity area a light but solid color. I would probably go with a offwhite to a gray. That would go nicely with the granite and your trim around mirror and vanity. Good luck. This is aggravating and could have been avoided but not huge problem to solve.
