Small Kitchen Layout Advice Request

Good afternoon,

It is finally time to remodel our kitchen. Our current set-up is less than ideal. To the right of the stove we have a 30" base cabinet and upper, and the countertop is isolated and not very useful. There is also a lack of storage, and most upper cabinets are short and high, meaning I can't see or reach the items inside. This is a problem since I'm the primary user of the workspace and I'm not getting any taller. The attached photograph shows a remodeled kitchen in our neighborhood with our existing layout. I've used the Ikea kitchen designer to replace the 30" island cabinet with two 15" tall cabinets, added a lazy susan corner cabinet, and some drawers for the lower cabinets. I also shifted the dishwasher and got rid of the double sink.

I'm interested in opinions of the changed layout. I wanted to add more storage space and concentrate work areas to around the sink. I have not settled on door front styles, I like the idea of the recycled content offering by Ikea but am not sure if that would be too dark. Other options are white/off-white or grey. I'll add filler and end pieces to the final design, you will notice gaps. I don't want to move the oven or the refrigerator. (Well, I might, but that is outside of the budget.)

Thank you for your time. I appreciate your help.
