At my house the spray works as long as I start spraying early enough in the spring & reapply every 2 weeks. Once I miss a spraying it is all over, the deer move in. This is in N> TX where I have to water a lot.

That's some good deer repellant! Which one is it? I'm glad those celery stalks are not your hostas, but they came darn close.

I'm very lucky so far that the deer around here have no taste for hostas. They walk right by them in search of juicy flower buds right before they open.

Last November this handsome fellow came though my yard.

He stood out because of the marking on his forehead. I wonder if the lady deer were as impressed as I was.

Yes, it must be started early and applied often. I was very tired of the "celery stalks" in my front garden. So far, so good, this year!

the celery stalks are greenery.. so they are still storing energy from light.. for next year ...

and lets be honest.. its basically september.. its all downhill from here ...

hopefully they ate some slugs on the night leaf feeding ...

Whatever brand they had at Lowes - Deer Fence?

I didn't really apply the deer fence early. It wasn't until they started eating my daylily buds that I started applying it.

I didn't get pics of the young bucks, but the antlers were a dead give away. It happened two weeks before the doe/fawn pics. They ran off so I could only get pics of the devastation.

Steve, I have been using Deer Fence (Home Depot here), but looking at recent studies I'm switching to Bobbex. 32 oz makes 2 1/2 gallons on Amazon. $20.75.

zkathy, I don't think they set up any fencing, they state the "fence" was 100% protection.

My fences are 8 feet tall, a really motivated and very large buck can get over that height, but only if there is something really good on the other side, like ripe apples. Standard wisdom here in Iowa is that 8 1/2 feet will stop even the largest bucks.

This is certainly an issue I don’t have to worry about being right in the middle of the city...... only the slugs and one unruly juvenile raccoon! :-)

steve..this brings back memories..years ago I looked out once and we had 6 deer in the backyard..I've had damage similar to your neighbor's..but there was an authorized deer hunt (complete with protesters) in the huge state park nearby and since then no deer in my backyard..they will probably show up someday..
