Baby Annabelle Hydrangea

I planted this Annabelle in the spring. One (or two?) stems of it broke off, but this one stem grew very tall. I thought about cutting it back, but there was no foliage on the lower part, so I just left it alone. Today I discovered this stem has cracked/broken at the base, and now it's lying flat on the ground. It's still attached, but broken. Is there anything I can do to save it? Stake it up somehow??

Depending on the amount of damage, one might be able to straighten it up and stake it. It may want to produce new growth now or not (it may want to wait until Spring 2020 before sending a new stem up). After staking it, if the damage was too much and it browns out then wait until Spring for new growth before cutting it off..

The roots should be ok so let it decide what to do next and when. Maintain mulch and keep the soil as evenly moist as you can.
