Do You Have Labor Day Plans?

We have no plans for the holiday weekend, but I would not be surprised to learn that the kids have decided to have something the last minute. I am frying chicken and making a sweet potato casserole for the dinner at church on Sunday. Our church has a pitch in l dinner after church services every first Sunday of the month. Do you have weekend plans?

Tomorrow I'm probably cleaning house. Sunday is the Pride Parade downtown, so we will be going to that again this year. I actually enjoy it better than the Stampede Parade. Monday I'm hoping to go to the park for my son, his girlfriend and their sons annual photo shoot. We have a series of three that we've done every year since they were expecting their son. This is one of them:

Nothing in particular on the holiday, but we'll be taking a short trip right after. It's less crowded traveling after the peak of tourist season.

Working the weekend. Was supposed to work on Labor Day, however, we were short other days and had way too many on the holiday so I took myself off. No double time for me. ) : Not sure what I'll be doing. Depends on how much I get done today. I have to get a few more gifts for family in Japan. Two weeks to go!

We're already on vacation, so no travel plans this weekend. Tonight we're going to a Friday night street market which features bands, a small farmers market and food/crafts vendors. On Sunday, we plan to go to brunch at a restaurant we like. Not sure yet what Monday holds.

I've started today. Work has fewer people and I bet others will have already taken off to make it an extra long weekend, which will facilitate getting lunch easier. Officemate and I are going to get a burger today. That'll be as close as I get to grilling. I'm by myself, so I can just veg on Monday. It'll be nice.

Sunday, we're going through Mom's condo and divvying up what's left now that she has her apartment set up and then donate/toss what's left. We'll pick out her winter clothes and then let my bro's girlfriend go through it. Mom has surgery followup (and probably 2nd surgery) next Thursday (Friday). I have an upcoming surgery for which I had to have a biopsy yesterday and honestly, I want to do nothing. Ouch.

I am meeting my family at the riverhouse. Just one daughter and her family are coming, so not the usual crowd of 15. I hope it is boating weather.

I'm heading to a buddy's place at the lake this afternoon. There will be a pretty big crowd of about 10 adults and 5 or so kids from 1 to 10 years and 2 crazy dogs. Weather is supposed to be perfect after a chance of rain overnight tonight.

I'll be smoking 6 slabs of ribs, a large chicken, and some sausages on Sunday but someone else will be taking care of the sides. Boating and fishing are on the agenda all 3 days.

lol, my husband takes Labor day seriously. Lots of labor. Maybe some college football and I'm laboring through books and more books so I can make some major decisions on our new house. Siding, exterior doors, colors, flooring, railing, counters,,, all that. I'm planning a California trip for September with my mom to some special places. Something to look forward too.

We had our fun last weekend at the Tecumseh Corn Festival in Ontario. This weekend I'm helping a relative install ceiling speakers and lighting in their home theater.

We'll probably grill some bison burgers and drink a few IPA's.

There are only 2 of us. The tourists are making their exodus and Monday will be a day for celebrating quiet, no lines, normal traffic. My favorite time of year. We will have baby back ribs, homemade potato salad and local corn on the cob. We might go out for ice cream...

No special plans. Labor day has never been a big holiday for me. Much like the fourth of July and memorial day. I don't really celebrate summer holidays since I dislike summer so much. The whole week is my last vacation from work of the year though and i plan to spend it being highly efficient and productive around the house. :op

At the very least I will be going through my halloween decor to make sure everything is still working, and may have to redo some of my spooky bottles. But no labor day plans.

Me and my daughter were suppose to go camping but I had to cancel due to my husband being so nervous for a dr. appt on Tuesday for a torn rotator cuff. Both of my dds will end up being home some part of the weekend, heading to the Farmer's Market tomorrow and my nephew is going to spend the day with us tomorrow. My mom recently moved and I told her I would help her go through some boxes, I'll probably do that on Sunday.

Nope no plans. We picked up dinner tonight. I had crab legs which I have been craving. The Oklahoma sooners play on Sunday so we will be watching the game. That's about it.

We had plans. But now it's remove/tie down anything in the yard that could become airborn on Saturday and then hurry up and wait to live what Dorian is going to do in the Orlando area.

I live in Florida so it's kind of hard to make fun plans with a hurricane looming. We are as ready as we can be except for putting up plywood in the windows but that's labor intensive so we won't be doing that unless we are sure we are going to be slammed straight on. I wish I was one of those people who can drift through life with no worries but I'm not. Sigh.

We plan to grill some shish kabobs made from beef tenderloin, pearl onions, red pepper and cherry tomatoes sometime during this lovely long weekend. We plan to bathe our old cat and may need stitches afterward :-)

While I also saw it first as "labor pains" as well..

Nothing major on Monday. I'm retired, so I'm not going to be at work anyhow.

Today I brought home made scrambled eggs with cheese and prosciutto to the local Saturday coffee meeting. Afterwards visited a nearby farmers' market.

Tomorrow, a hen and two cockerels will find their way into my freezer.

We drove across 4 states to visit my daughter and granddaughter. GD starts 5th grade next week. On the drive back, I'll stop in at my niece to chat a bit. I'm searching for a family member to pass my collection of family memorabilia to. To many, these scraps of paper and photos would be junk and trashed. I'm looking for someone who will treat these old papers gently and who wants the photos. I have discovered that my Niece's son has taken an interest in his family history and my value these things. I'm old enough to know that I do not have many years left and I don't want these items left to chance. We lost a box of family papers that my Aunt had because. she had not passed it to someone.

My earliest scrap is a promissory note written in Tennessee in 1822 that promises to pay in bushels of corn. There is another note promising to pay in the money of Tennessee, Coming forward, I have the original Muster Roll of a Captain in the Black Hawk War of 1832 in Illinois and Wisconsin. It is the copy carried by the Captain during the campaign as proved by field notes scribbled on the document. These are two are of the most historical significance in the collection. There are many other items such as property tax receipts and letters. During the 1830s, the Baptist Church split. The breakaway group retained the name, Baptist while the original group changed their name to Primitive Baptist. Also, there was a split in my ancestor's family. One Son went with the new Baptist group and was named a trustee. I have his copy of a deed of land given to the new church.

These items are stuff that genealogists value, but is trash to others. I am looking for a keeper of family papers and photos.

Other than this, we don't have any plans for the holiday.

Planted a border garden next to the flagstone path. Watched the movie "Green Book", REALLY LIKED IT! Shopped the thrift store, picked up 3 things. Trail running. Relaxing. Grilled salmon one night, then rib eye. Love the warm weather & being lazy!

We don't do holidays. Prefer to stay home and avoid the traffic, the crowds etc. Today I went and had my western lesson and trail ride. Tomorrow I am attending a county fair/ rodeo. Monday is another horse day with my regular riding instructor. See a pattern here?
