Looks like another little limelight

That's kinda what I thought. I just planted my first hydrangeas this year, Limelight and Little Lime. Maybe I'll look for something else like Little Quick Fire.

I just planted my first hydrangeas this year too. I planted Quick Fire, Little Quick Fire, and Little Lime. Now begins the hope of the gardener!

Popmama, I always thought hydrangeas wouldn't do well in Utah but I have since leaned that the panicle varieties do grow here and I have noticed a few around town that I think are probably Little Lime so I am hopeful that they will be fine in my yard.

I saw Quick Fire and Pinky Winky at Home Depot but I don't have room for another big one. I planted Limelight in the one spot I had for a taller one. Pretty sure I can find a spot or two for some smaller ones though. I am so excited to watch them grow!

Same thing here, Linda. Most hydrangeas were not recommended for this area. The only one that seemed reliable here was Annabelle. But with the availability of the panicle hydrangeas, I am starting to see more and more them around here. I'm looking forward to seeing if these survive. Gardening is always a gamble.

I wouldn't worry too much about them getting too tall. I think they will generally stay smaller in our drier climates and you can always prune!

That Firelight is gorgeous! Boston is probably one of those "perfect" places for hydrangeas. Cold enough for dormancy, lots of humidity, water, summer heat and more acidic soil. Pennsylvania is hydrangea-land too.

Cape Cod Massachusetts is Hydrangea Land. It has the perfect climate for Hydrangeas to thrive. This is a house I usually make an effort to drive by when in Chatham, Mass (in Cape Cod):

They do so well down there, they have a Hydrangea festival in July where a bunch of people open up their gardens to the public to show off their Hydrangeas:

Oh, I want that house!!! Hope I win the lottery! ;o)) I drove thru Cape Cod several years ago in Sept/Oct and missed that place but I did see some other places with lots of mopheads too. I wonder... how is winter over there like???

Another awesome place to walk around is Wequassett Inn. https://wequassett.com/. Beautifully landscaped. TONS of Paniculatas which HUGE blooms. Wife and I will walk around their grounds for at least an hour admiring all the plants.

Anyways, back to the Cape. Cape Cod has a micro climate because it's completely surrounded by the ocean. Most of the cape is considered 7a.

In the middle of summer, it's common to see a 10-15 degree difference when comparing areas in 6a. Same applies to winter. Cape has warmer temps. Cape also gets less snow in the winter. The 7a micro climate is perfect for the mopheads so that's why everyone down there can get away without winter protecting.
